After the fake news hoax, Google to ban fake news sites from using its Adsense

Google restricts Ads: Alaphabet Inc’s Google announced its move on Monday to ban the use of its advertisement selling tool called Adsense by the fake news sites. This move is intended to curtail the revenue earned by these news sites.

Further shedding some light on this issue, Google spokeswoman said, “on pages that misrepresent, misstate, or conceal information about the publisher, the publisher’s content, or the primary purpose”.

Recently, a false news site had published on Sunday about Donald Trump’s win even before the result was actually announced which appeared in the top search results on Google page. And this brought a backlash for the leading companies like Google, Facebook, and Twitter.

Moving forward, we will restrict ad serving on pages that misrepresent, misstate, or conceal information about the publisher, the publisher’s content, or the primary purpose of the web property.

These social platforms have been supporting the malicious content earlier, but it was after the shock it received that these have decided against such content from now on. Facebook Chief, Mark Zuckerberg has, however, said that the site had a little role to play in the US Presidential Elections. He wrote, “Of all the content on Facebook, more than 99 percent of what people see is authentic.”

While Google has not mentioned this to be the real reason behind its move.
