Amazon Tri-color doormats -Recently Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj demanded an apology from the e-commerce giant Amazon for selling Trocolour doormats. Soon after that, Amazon was found selling Flip-flops with Bapu Mahatma Gandhi’s image on it.

The flip-flops cost around Rs 1200 i.e. $16.99 with shipping charges of $2.99. Amazon describes the footwear as foam rubber flip-flops having professionally printed face of Mahatma Gandhi on it.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted on Wednesday, “Amazon must tender unconditional apology. They must withdraw all products insulting our national flag immediately.”
She had further warned that in case the Amazon did not take appropriate action regarding it, the Amazon officials will not be given visa for India and also the existing visas will be cancelled.
“After learning of the product’s listing, we immediately removed them from the Canadian website and implemented measures to ensure that these products could not be sold on any of our other marketplace or websites”, Amazon wrote in a letter to Sushma Swaraj.
“Amazon India is committed to respecting Indian laws and customs. To the extent that these items offered by a third-party seller offended Indian sensibilities; Amazon regrets the same. At no time did we intend or mean to offend Indian sentiments, Amazon India Vice President, Amit Aggarwal said in a letter addressed to EAM Sushma Swaraj.
