Andhra Pradesh free smartphone scheme: For making India a better economy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is focused on a cashless transaction. It would help the government to eradicate corruption from the nation and also make India “Digital India” as it is a dream project of PM Modi. Since the cashless transaction is fast, efficient and eco-friendly and safe somewhat, therefore government is encouraging people to connect with technology.
At the same time, Andhra Pradesh government has announced to launch a Andhra Pradesh free smartphone scheme for students in the State. The scheme will be valid for only poor students in Andhra Pradesh who belong to the BPL category. The government believes that there are a lot of intelligent students in the state who currently are unable to live up to their potential due to their poverty. Due to lack of resources, such students usually find themselves lagging behind. It is our responsibility to provide basic facilities to those students. Providing free smartphones to the BPL students of Andhra Pradeshis an appreciable step. These phones will keep them connected to the outer world and they can gain knowledge by connecting to the internet.

The motive of the Scheme – In a recent interview, CM Chandrababu Naidu mentioned that the aim is to enhance the digital literacy and make Andhra Pradesh a digital state.
Eligibility
Applicant should be resident of Andhra Pradesh
Applicant must be a student with valid Student ID Card
Only the applicants belonging to the BPL category are eligible to apply
REGISTRATION PROCESS – HOW TO APPLY FOR ANDHRA FREE SMARTPHONE SCHEME
Once the portal is launched, the registration steps will include –
Visiting the Direct link of registration page
Entering the basic information like Name, Address etc.
Providing Aadhaar card number, mobile number and email for verification
Entering the OTP (One time Password)
Providing the details of Institute/College
Uploading the College/Institute ID card
Uploading BPL Card
Andhra Pradesh Student Free Smart Phone Yojana
After the successful submission of online application form, a system generated application number will appear on the screen. You need to note down the number as it will be required later on.
Recently such schemes were launched in two states – Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. In both of these states, the booking for the free phone was done online. Official online portals were set up and users could register directly from there. Although the Andhra Pradesh Government has not decided to launch a website but soon it is expected to launch a portal so that the application will be accepted through online mode only.
