CNG PNG Chandigarh: The Chandigarhians are happy over the news of CNG and PNG being introduced in the city for the first time. Now, the residents of the city will receive Compressed natural gas and Piped Natural gas soon the inauguration for which is slated for November 11.
An official announcement was made by MP Kirron Kher at a meeting of the Advisory Council. The service will first be introduced at Sector 49 to the Economically Weaker Sections and the first service station will be inaugurated in sector 44.

It is said that initially the service will reach out to around 200 houses and later the number of houses included under it will be increased. The project manager, SK Sharma, Indian Oil Adani Gas Private Limited said that the project aims to cover the entire city in a maximum one-year period and then the nearby cities will also be included in the plan.
PNG will be a lot cheaper than LPG and the rates would differ for the commercial purpose and the domestic use. The PNG connection can be opted for by the residents, however, it would not be mandatory for them to terminate the LPG connection. However, the residents are willing to go for the PNG connection since it’s a lot more beneficial and the news has them excited.
