The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized a huge amount of banned narcotic substance worth over RS 3,000 crore from a factory in the Udaipur. DRI has also arrested Bollywood producer Subhash Dudhani in this matter.
DRI officials on 28 October raided premises of Udaipur-based Marudhar Drinks and found a room with full of cartons of banned Mandrax tablets.
The Biggest ever drug seizure for CBEC
In a statement, CBEC Chairperson Najib Shah said that the estimated cost of the total quantity of illegal substance is around 2 crore and in the international market, these tablets the cost of these tablets would be over Rs 3,000crore. He further said this is biggest ever drug seizure done by CBEC.
Shah added that we have got success in arresting the mastermind and the others who involved with the drug syndicate will soon be behind the prison. Subhash Dudhani who was a Bollywood producer also had businesses and property in Mumbai.
BSF assists DRI to nab mastermind
DRI Mumbai got the information and then it was traced to Udaipur in which Border Security Force BSF actively assisted it to nab the mastermind.
While giving the details about the drugs, he told that the drug is usually known as Mandrax, M—Pills, buttons or smarties which are commonly smoked mix with cannabis. It is used as a recreational drug in Africa and Asia.
“The consignment was manufactured in Rajasthan and consigned for Mozambique or South Africa,” he said.
DRI has seized more than 540kgs of heroin and 7409kgs of ephedrine along with other narcotics and psychotropic substance during last 5years. In the recent past, the DRI has also neutralized 10other factories manufacturing synthetic drugs like Ketamine, Alprazolam, Mephedrone and Ephedrine throughout the country.
