Following Elon Musk’s takeover, Twitter now allows users to “downvote” other users.
Now more users will be able to use Twitter’s “downvote” feature.
Since its conception, Twitter has likely gone through its biggest change. Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, currently owns the business. One of the biggest transactions in acquisition history was the takeover of Twitter. But now that it has been finished, a lot will change on the microblogging platform if Musk’s earlier tweets are any indication.
One of these adjustments was implemented long before the Twitter vs. Musk controversy had started.
However, a wider deployment is currently taking place. More people are now able to use Twitter’s “downvote” feature.
After Elon Musk took over Twitter the first thing that happened is Twitter rolling his downvote feature.
Has dislike button on YouTube is different from the downvote button on Twitter. This feature is for replies to posts, not for direct posts.
It is Twitter’s method of handling offensive language and off-topic comments.
Elon Musk finished buying Twitter Inc. for $44 billion late on Thursday, and his first action was to fire the top executives of the social media company whom he accused of deceiving him about the volume of spam accounts on the platform.
According to people with knowledge of the situation, Musk fired Twitter’s CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and head of legal and policy Vijaya Gadde. The sources added that Agrawal and Segal were escorted out of Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters where they were present when the deal was finalized.
Requests for comment from Twitter, Musk, and the executives were not immediately fulfilled.
Users are getting pop-ups about the new downvote feature explaining it.
Users can downvote responses on Twitter if they believe they are not adding to the conversation. Downvotes are confidential, and the platform has guaranteed. These votes are private, and neither the author of the Tweet nor anyone else will have access to them. The downvote feedback function, according to Twitter, would enable them to “prioritize higher-quality content for you and everyone on Twitter.”
The new downvote functionality will start appearing for Twitter users on Android and iOS. Support for this functionality is available even on the Twitter website. Keep in mind that downvotes are not visible to the general public, while upvotes are displayed as likes.
Elon Musk thinks that Twitter will serve as a platform for healthy discussion. He emphasized his support for free speech in the letter, something he has previously done. He did, however, take steps to ensure that people who break the law and the platform’s regulations will face consequences. The platform will be adding more capabilities to make it simpler to communicate with the community in this regard.
