Eminent writer Taarak Mehta passes away: Eminent Gujarati columnist, humorist and playwright Taarak Mehta passed away on Wednesday morning at the age of 87. He was suffering from prolonged illness. Writer’s column Duniya Ne Undha Chashma in Gujarati language was the inspiration behind the popular serial Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah telecasts on the Channel Sab TV.
We will do special episode in memory of him, says Joshi
As soon as the news came out, the entire crew of the show went into shock. Speaking Dilip Joshi who essays the character of Jethalal on the show said: “I was busy finishing their episodes when they heard the sad news of his demise”.
When questioned Joshi whether the makers plan to pay tribute to the playwright he said,
“Of course we will do a special episode in memory of him. That is what we all are planning. The entire team and producers are now discussing how we can do it. It is extremely sad that he passed away.” In 2015, Taarak was awarded with the Padma Shree award.

Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani and Bhartiya Janata Party President Amit Shah also paid their tribute on writer’s demise on twitter. Not only them, Veteran actor Paresh Rawal and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also paid tributes to the writer.
