A researcher from the university of Vermont has found out the treatment to children with autism. The researcher is using some special technology to monitor the eye movements of eighteen students who is suffering from autism between the ages of six to twelve and also to nineteen children without the development disorders.
The researcher from the university of Vermont find some more interesting result in his research, children with autism tended to focus more on a speaker’s mouth rather than speaker’s eye. And when the conversation turned to emotional topics the children become sad or scared.
According to the head of the researcher team, Tiffany Hutchins the assistance professor of communication science and disorder, what you talk with autism spectrum disorder children really matters. The behaviour of autism children depends on the matter you discuss. Too emotional topic will make them sad or scared. If you just change a few words by talking about what people do verse what they feel, you will see the impact on where eyes go for information.
The researcher also said that children who are facing more severe autism and very poor in verbal and intellectual focus more on speaker mouth rather than speaker’s eyes. It was also common among those with more limited executive function and the mental skills that help people pay attention, manage time and get things done.
In a case of a highly emotional topic, the children with autism look mainly on speaker’s mouth by doing this the children with autism lose much important social meaning given by the speaker’s eyes.
