What is this hybrid SUV Volvo XC90 T8 Excellence?
The Swedish luxury behemoth, Volvo, has launched one of a kind hybrid SUV Volvo XC90 T8 Excellence in India. This is the first hybrid SUV that has been introduced in the Indian market and has been priced at Rs.1.25 crore, obviously ex-showroom Delhi.
Its outer design is based on the original XC90 with no variations at all. However, a closer look might reveal the plug-in socket on the left side of the front fender. One may also spot a T8 badge on the boot.
Importance to safety
Volvo Auto India MD Tom von Bonsdorff said that this is not only the first hybrid SUV but also the safest SUV, all thanks to the Radar based features that it offers. The radar offers features like collision warning (with full auto braking), adaptive cruise control as well as pedestrian, cyclist and animal detection as stock features.
It also comes with a safety cage, side impact and whiplash protection. All this to make you feel one hundred percent safe while you ride.
He further added that it is the most luxurious SUV ever built by Volvo. It has 4 seats and each seat is heated, reclinable and also has its independent climate control. At the centre of this magnificent beast, you will find a centre console where there is a beverage cooler and an ‘Excellence Console’.
The Excellence Console has a lot to offer in terms of customizations of the rear-seat environment. These include air conditioning temperature, seat heating level, massage, recline, beverage temperature etcetera. The list is quite a long one.
Let us talk about the heart of this machine. It has the total power of 407 HP (320 is from the petrol engine and the rest from the electric powertrain.) It can reach from 0-100kmph in merely 5.6 seconds.
One full charge gives it enough juice to travel up to 40 km. It can be fully recharged in roughly 2.5 hours.
Volvo is doing good business with the XC90 T8 Excellence. They have already received more than 72,000 orders across the world despite the premium price. In India too they have sold around 600 of these beauties a year prior to the beginning of the deliveries.
