Viewing increasing number of suicides by the students, the government has decided to launch free online coaching program to IIT candidates. Human Resource and Development Minister, Prakash Javadekar said that the government will provide free online coaching to the students. It will also help those who are not able to spend money on their coaching.
Program will be called IIT PAL,says HRD Minister
He further said the planned portal will soon be launched and it will be called IIT PAL. Before the actual Joint Entrance Examination, it will have three mock exams,” IIT PAL will have lectures, materials, tutorials, discussion forums and fortnightly tests. He said this is my answer to high-cost coaching and number of suicides reported from the IIT prep students.
Government will introduce the evaluation process to review that the students are performing well or not
HRD Minister Javadekar further said that around 2.5 crore children studying under Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) may have sit for the board exam in Class 10.
He added that “We will implement it from the 2017-2018 session. Not this year or in the next two months. The final decision will be announced soon, it is under final consideration. Class x board exams are currently optional in CBSE.
Keeping in his mind that parents were concerned that there were no exams for the children from classes 1 to 7, Javadekar said that the government will introduce an evaluation process involving the learning benchmarks to review if the performance of the child is up to the mark or not. He also mentioned that government will be given authority to introduce class v and VIII board examination, a proposal will be tabled in the cabinet and then in parliament.
