Gionee S8 launched:- Gionee has launched its latest flagship, S8, in China. It comes with a price tag of CNY 2299. The phone was initially launched at the Mobile World Congress (MWC’16) held in Barcelona. Let us have a look at its chief specifications.
The Gionee S8 comes with a 5.5-inches FHD AMOLED display with a pixel density of 401ppi. Its display panel is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor clocked at 1 GHz. This processor is coupled with Mali-T860MP2 which handles the heavy graphics.
It comes in only one standard variant which offers 4 GB of RAM along with 64 GB of internal storage. You can further expand the storage up to 256 GB with the help of a microSD card which can be inserted into hybrid SIM 2 tray.
On the camera front, it has a 16 MP rear camera (PDAF, LAF, f/1.8 and LED flash) and an 8 MP selfie camera.
The smartphone runs on Amigo 3.2 OS which is based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
There are all communication tools on board like Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC, Radio and USB.
The Gionee S8 comes loaded with features like 3D Touch and Fingerprint sensor.
It features a 3000 mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery.
The unique thing about the phone is its 3D Touch. Yep, you read that right. The phone has 3D touch which was earlier introduced on iPhone. 3D touch basically means that the phone can distinguish between the various types on contacts namely, tap, touch and press.
Another highlight of the phone is its impressive camera. The rear side of the phone features a 16 MP camera while the front side has an 8 MP camera. What makes the camera interesting is the features that are offered along with it. The rear camera has Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), Laser Autofocus (LAF), f/1.8 aperture, 6P lens and a LED flash.
