India and Kyrgyzstan finalised a bilateral investment agreement and six other pacts over a range of areas. The two countries decided to combat terrorism, extremism and radicalism.
India and Kyrgyzstan to strengthen ties
“We discussed how we could work together to secure our youth and society against common challenges of terrorism, extremism, and radicalism. We agreed on the need to coordinate and work closely in addressing and overcoming these challenges for our common benefit.”

PM Modi called the Kyrgyz-India Mountain Bio-Medical Research Center an excellent example of a wonderful and successful collaboration. He added that work on Kyrgyz-India Joint Military Training Center has started in Kyrgyzstan. Narendra Modi also said that the steps are being taken to further expand the telemedicine links over other regions of Kyrgyz Republic.
In the meeting, PM Modi and Kyrgyzstan President Almazbek Atambayev decided to strengthen defence, security, mining, IT, agriculture and energy.
“Kyrgyzstan is home to the great Mughals of India and Emperor Babur came from the city Osh and even in his memoir, Baburnama, he refers to his place of origin in the mountains near Osh”, Mr. Atambaev said in his speech.
India is building a transport network in Afghanistan and Iran, Mr Atambaev said, “This will increase regional connectivity and help connect Kyrgyzstan with Iran, Afghanistan and beyond.”
