BCCI on Friday announced the venues and dates of India vs Australia 4 Test match series. India and Australia will play four test matches against each other in Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The First match will be played in Pune and the series is set to start from February 23 onwards.
Out of the four test venues, Pune, Ranchi and Dharamshala will host their maiden international test match.
The three centres(Pune, Ranchi and Dharamshala) which had hosted One-day Internationals and T20 Internationals in the past — were accorded Test status last November.
All these three centres, incidentally, are the home turfs of BCCI president Anurag Thakur, secretary Ajay Shirke and joint-secretary Amitabh Choudhary respectively.
Here are the dates and venues of the respective test matches of the series:
The teams will face each in the first test match that is scheduled from February 23rd to 27th. And the Pune will host the first test match between India and Australia.
Then the Second test match will be hosted by Bengaluru and is scheduled on March 4th to 8th.
Then the next two matches will be hosted by Ranchi and Dharamshala on March 16th to 20th and March 25th to 29th respectively.
The Australians were whitewashed(4-0) by the Indians in the last test series they played in India.
The allocation of matches to new centres is aimed at restoring the rotation policy for Tests.
Indian team is scheduled to play 13 Tests, 8 ODIs and three T20Is in the current home season.
