India’s one of the powerful and popular politicians, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa died after 75 days on late Monday at Apollo Hospital in Chennai. Millions of Tamilians’ Amma and legions of AIADMK was 68years old.
Actress-turned-politician CM Jayalalithaa had a cardiac arrest on Sunday evening and she was rushed back again to ICU where she was pronounced died on Monday by the doctors. A team of Doctors from the UK and Apollo Hospital was closely monitoring her. A famous prolific film star had to face Political ups and downs in 2001 and 2014 following court judgments in corruption related cases, however, was later not found guilty and restored. She is only the second CM in almost 30 years, besides J&k’s Mufti, to die of natural causes while still in office.
“It is with indescribable grief we announce the sad demise of our esteemed honorable chief minister of Tamil Nadu Puratchithalavi Amma at 11.30pm today,” a midnight statement from the hospital said. The state has announced seven days’ mourning.

At the same time, Crowd standing at the hospital gates was waiting to take Jayalalithaa body to her Poes Garden residence Veda Nilayam, AIADMK legislators met at the party headquarters to elect finance minister O Panneerselvam as the successor.
Jayalalithaa had complained of fever and dehydration and she was admitted to hospital where doctors advised to stay at the hospital for longer. Later, doctors told that a life-threatening infection that spreads in the blood, as the underlying reason. Intensive treatment provided by a team of experts succeeded reviving her to an extent.
The doctors issued a statement which stated that she was recovering well, but just after a few days, she had a cardiac arrest on 4pm on Sunday and late Monday doctors declared her dead.

PM Modi expressed grief on twitter over death of Jayalalithaa
Prime Minster Narendra Modi wrote on twitter “Deeply saddened at the passing away of Selvi Jayalalithaa. Her demise has left a huge void in Indian politics. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Tamil Nadu in this hour of grief. May the Almighty grant them the strength to bear this irreparable loss with courage and fortitude,” adding, “Jayalalithaa Ji’s connect with citizens, concern for the welfare of the poor, the women and marginalized will always be a source of inspiration.”
The past 24 hours witnessed considerably anxiety, tension and uncertainly across the state. Millions of people at the hospital spent sleepless night and a day with prayers. On the other hand, AIADMK ready itself for the eventually and elected OPS as the MLAs party leader.
