Karnataka MBBS BDS Admissions: The Karnataka Examinations Authority to discontinue the common entrance test from this year for admissions to medical and dental courses.
The common entrance exam will be considered for admission to the first semester/ year in various professional undergraduate degree programs offered at Government/ University/ Private Aided/ Private Un-Aided Professional Educational Institutions for the academic session 2017-18.
The KEA will continue to hold the CET for other professional courses such as Engineering, ISMH, Farm Science, B.V.Sc. and Pharmacy, however, the admissions to MBBS and BDS courses offered at the institutions across the State will be done only on the basis of NEET 2017, to be conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), New Delhi.
The decision to defer the CET for medical and dental courses has come in the wake of the Supreme Court’s May 2016 order which had quashed all the entrance tests being in practice across the country.
Karnataka MBBS BDS Admissions: NEET- 2017/ NEET-2017 Syllabus
For, Karnataka MBBS BDS Admissions, NEET- 2017 would act as a single entrance exam throughout the country. Based on the NEET score, KEA would prepare the merit list for allotment of government quota seats under MBBS and BDS courses.
- The admission procedure to All-India 15% quota seats will be administered by the Medical Counselling Committee, while
- the government quota seats which were earlier filled through KCET will now be filled through NEET and the counselling will be administered by KEA.
NEET-2017 Exam Pattern:
- The exam will have 180 questions distributed among Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology.
- The exam will be based on the Class 11th and 12th syllabus followed by CBSE Board.
