BJP condemns J&K government: Jammu and Kashmir government has surrounded with a huge controversy after announcing to give exgratia to Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani’s brother. Burhan was killed in an encounter by the Indian Army on July 8. PDP’s ally party BJP has condemned the decision taken by the J&K Kashmir.
J&K Government decided to compensate Rs 4lakh to Burhan’s family
The government has decided to compensate of Rs 4lakh to Burhan’s family for his brother Khalid Wani’s death who was killed by the security forces in Buchoo forest area on Tral region in Pulwama on 13 April last year.
The army said that he was in close touch with his brother, Burhan Wani, a commander in the Hizbul Mujahideen.
The family, however, refused this and claimed that it was a case of custodial killing. The decision taken by the government to compensate Khalid who has been termed as a blunder by both intelligence and security forces is demoralizing the forces, said an officer.
BJP will oppose PDP’s decision
“ BJP condemns J&K government decision and will oppose it because we are of the solid opinion that he was a terrorist. There is no provision for grant of exgratia or compensation to the family of a slain terrorist,” said Sunil Sethi, advocate and chief spokesperson of the BJP in J&K.
The government has issued a list of 27 civilians, included Khalid name who have been killed or have gone missing in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The government has revealed the list of 17 people and rejected for cases and postponed its decision in six cases.
The state government has, however, said that the list was “preliminary” and that it has called for “objections”, if any, from individuals and institutions, such as the Army, before confirming its decision.
J&K Government explained “the list is preliminary”
“This is a preliminary list and not a final decision. That is why we have sought objections,” said Muneer-ul-Islam, Deputy Commissioner (Pulwama), who heads the District Level Screening and Coordination Committee (DLSCC), which decides on compensation cases. “We have sought objections from individuals and various institutions, including Army, police, CRPF and others,” he said.
Army has very difficult time in the past time six months. The unrest in Kashmir showed no signals of ending. The youth of the state hired by the separatists was targeted by the security forces. For making the issue worse, Pakistan took the advantaged and sent around 300 terrorists. Not only youth died during the unrest even several Jawans was killed and injured by assailants.
