The OnePlus 3 was welcomed very well earlier this year. There were reports saying that the company had to pause its sales in as many as 23 countries in order to meet the excessive demand. Guess what is going happen when its successor will be out? Yes, we are talking about the launch of OnePlus 4!
OnePlus 3 was greatly loved due to many reasons. One of them was that it was successfully able to take the top position in the AnTuTu benchmarks. It had to beat the biggies like the Apple iPhone 6S and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. However, OnePlus has no plans to stop. Rumours have already started cropping up which give us an idea as to what we can expect from the launch of OnePlus 4!
According to TechRadar, the launch of OnePlus 4 will be in June 2017 as its predecessor also came out in June. But, since the launch of Apple iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy Note 7 have stolen all the limelight, (Not really in the case of the Note 7) it is also possible that OnePlus might consider launching the phone a bit earlier. To cover up for the Note 7 mess, Samsung might also launch the S8 a few months earlier.
This means that we can expect the launch of OnePlus 4 as well as Samsung Galaxy S8 in March or April. However, it is hard to argue with the user opinion that OnePlus 4 would beat the S8 due to its tempting hardware coupled with a reasonable price. The reports suggest that the OnePlus 4 would be priced a little over $400 as OnePlus One was launched at $349, OnePlus 2 at $389 and OnePlus 3 at $399.
Specifications
Now, let us get down to business and talk about its specifications, shall we?
Display
The display of the phone could be of the size as of OnePlus 3 i.e. 5.5-inches, but it could be a 4K screen. Now that sounds fun, doesn’t it?
Processor and Memory
Since it is the successor of OnePlus 3, it is bound to outperform the device. It is rumoured to sport the most powerful, Qualcomm Snapdragon 821, processor. The OnePlus 3 comes with 3 GB and 4 GB RAM variants whereas OnePlus 4 might offer 8 GB of the same along with an expandable memory of up to 256 GB. This will make it the fastest phone and hopefully, it will be on the top of the AnTuTu benchmarking index again.
Camera
The report also says that 16MP camera from OnePlus 3 will also be upgraded to a 23MP camera. Further, the reports suggest that the camera might use the same technology which Sony uses in their Xperia series. I hope you do know how great Xperia is at photography, right?
Battery
The OnePlus 4 might feature a 4000 mAh battery to support everything mentioned above. It may come with Fast Charging which might charge it up to 60% in an hour. Wireless Charging can also be offered at an extra price.
October 19 UPDATE: OnePlus 4 will not come with Snapdragon 821. Instead, it will feature the not yet announced flagship Snapdragon 830 processor. Also, the screen being upgraded to 4K seems unlikely. Though an upgrade to QHD display will be seen.
In addition to the hardware upgrade, it will also feature a major software overhaul. This will be in the form of the merging of the two OS that OnePlus is developing right now, namely, Oxygen OS and Hydrogen OS (China only). The merging will enable OnePlus to roll out updates much more quickly!
November 1 Update: The latest reports on the internet suggest that the OnePLus 4 will feature the unannounced Adreno 620 GPU.
That is all we know about the OnePlus 4 right now. Stay tuned for more!
