Ban on Indian Films in Pak: It has been quite a while that the Indian movies have been barred from screening in Pakistani cinemas by the Pakistani government after the cold war between the two countries grew after the Uri attacks.
Ban on Indian Films to be lifted by Pak Govt?
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has made a committee for reconsidering the ban imposed on the Indian films in the Pakistani cinema after continuous requests of the distributors. The distributors are eagerly waiting for a positive response from the panel before the release of Raees starring Pakistan’s Mahira Khan and Shahrukh Khan.
The committee formed by the Pak PM is headed by Maryum Aurangzeb, the Minister of State for Information and Literary Heritage, the committee also includes Adviser to the Prime Minister on National History, Secretary of Commerce and a representative of ISI.
The ban was imposed on the Indian movies in the Pakistani cinemas in October last year when the tensions between the two countries had risen.
After the Uri attacks, the Pakistani actors were threatened in India. Such threats were given to Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Adnan Sami, Atif Aslam and a few other Pakistani artistes, a ban was also imposed on these artistes from working in the Indian industry as it was deemed to hurt the sentiments of the Indian masses especially after the continuous terror attacks from Pak.
