Federal officials have nabbed a 36 year-old-man for hacking celebrity accounts, which resulted in the leakage of many intimate photos and other private information.
Ryan Collins, The accused, has agreed to plead guilty, for leaking snapshots which include nude ones.
The man has been charged with penetrating in more than 100 Google and Apple accounts belonging to female celebrities between November 2012 and September 2014.
Ryan Collins was the mastermind in leaking the nude pictures of Oscar Award winning actress Jennifer Lawrence as well.
The man caught had used email addresses which seem official, and thus he has requested for usernames and passwords from the account holders.
Ryan is now facing severe punishments which include, a recommended prison sentence of 18 months and a fine of $2,50,000.
The term of imprisonment of Ryan may be extended to five years as he has been charged with the violation of Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. US attorney’s office told that investigation is still going on.
The accused has already admitted accessing more than 50 iCloud accounts and 72 Google accounts. After getting access to these profiles, he scanned through victim’s online data which include private photos and nude selfies.
He has also used the help of software to download all the details linked with a respective account.
Earlier, during a talk Jennifer Lawrence, who is a victim of this crime, told that this is nothing but a sex crime. She added that this cannot be considered as a scandal, but a sexual violation which is very much disgusting in nature.
Hope Solo (Fifa World Cup Winner), McKayla Maroney (Renowned Gymnast), Anna Kendrick and Kirsten Dunst Are other victims of this online leak.
