Petition filed against SC verdict: Angry workers from BJP protested outside the home of renowned Malayalam film Director Kamal and sang the national anthem in a unique style in Thiruvananthapuram of Kerala.
Organizers were not aware of the reason behind the protest
However, Kamal who is also the Chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy (KSCA), is himself not aware of the reason behind the protest. KSCA is a key organizer of the ongoing International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK)
“We have ensured that this is followed and hence I have no clue why the BJP did this. In fact, it’s they who through this act have belittled the national anthem,” said Kamal.
The Thrissur BJP unit got upset with kamal when it was out that the petitioner, representing a local film society, who filed a petition against the singing of the anthem, hailed from the same village as Kamal.
Police arrested 11 people for negated SC verdict
Though police thwart the protestors before 100 meters from Kamal’s home they managed to complete the anthem. The playing of the national anthem at the theaters has been the hot topic of discussion at IFFK ever since the since the Supreme Court made it mandatory to play before screening the movie. On the other hand, Police has arrest 11persons who negated to follow the verdict of Supreme Court.
