Priyanka Chopra apologises: The Quantico lead star Priyanka Chopra has apologised for letting out a wrong message. In a recent magazine cover of Conde Nast Traveller, the Hollywood-Bollywood actress was seen wearing a t-shirt saying, Refugee, Immigrant, outsider, traveller.
This lead to an outrage among the refugee community. Tweets came flooding criticising Priyanka Chopra for supporting such an act of belittling the plight of refugees and being indifferent to their feelings.
Priyanka Chopra apologises for letting out a wrong message
The photo had been tweeted by Condé Nast Traveller that features on its magazine cover, on its sixth anniversary, October 6. It is a leading Travel guide magazine in the US.
Conde Nast apologised for hurting the sentiments of people with its tweet, however, it said that it had no such intentions. While it said that the cover photo of Priyanka wearing that t-shirt had nothing to do with “fashion” as the idea behind it was to spread a message of xenophobia and the cover was meant to demoralise the idea of the dislike for people coming from different countries.
Priyanka Chopra commenting on the issue said that the magazine had asked her to wear the t-shirt to spread a word against xenophobia and had no intent of hurting anyone’s sentiments with it. She further apologised for having hurt the sentiments of the refugees and said that she wasn’t aware of such consequences of it.
Well, we are aware that the cover photo was not meant to take a dig on refugees or any other community, but still, it enraged the refugees and migrants since the idea behind it was not very clear. Now that both Priyanka and the travel magazine have apologised the heat has lowered among refugees.
