Reliance Jio complaint: As per a recent report, Reliance Jio has registered over 50 million subscribers ever since it rolled out its 4G services on September 5 this year. More and more customers have been opting for its services since free 4G data plan was announced by the company until December 31, 2016.
Reliance Jio complaint against three leading Telecom Industries
It has set the mark of the fastest growing company in India, leading the other broadband service providers. Reliance Jio has recently filed a complaint with the CCI (Competition Commission of India) against its rivals Vodafone, Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular regarding the breach of contract while working as a cartel.
“No such details have reached us from CCI. Idea will never be involved in any form of cartelisation. The group has the highest standards of compliance. The mobile industry is hyper-competitive with 8-9 operators active per circle. Idea is ranked third with just 18-19 percent market share, so has limited market power.”
– Idea CEO Himanshu Kapania
Reliance Jio claims that the three companies have denied its share in the Points of Interconnect of the cartel.
“Any such fanciful and baseless allegation of a cartel of three competitors operating in a highly competitive and price sensitive market needs to be debunked. The fruits of competition are visible to all, with the lowest tariffs and wide availability of quality services across the country, and the government realising huge revenues through fiercely fought auctions and levies.”
-Airtel
Earlier the three network operators were fined in October by TRAI for not providing sufficient points of interconnect to Reliance Jio. Reliance Jio had stated, “There is no doubt that COAI, in the garb of an independent platform, is being flagrantly misused by the IDOs to freely indulge in cartelisation, abuse their dominant position, thwart competition, and act against the public interest.”
