Republic Day 2017: As the Republic Day is heading closer, the themes for the day have already been decided and the preparations have begun. Some of the selected themes for the Republic day are Art and Lifestyle of Kutch, model govt schools of Delhi, a tribute to Lokmanya Tilak, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Skill India.
Republic Day 2017 Parade Themes
At the ceremonial parade, total 23 tableaux will be displayed out of which 17 will represent some of the states – Goa, Odisha, Delhi, Tripura, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Gujarat, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir and Assam. The other six will represent Ministry of Micro, small and medium industries, Ministry of Skill development, Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Central Board of Excise and Customs, Central Public Works Department and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.
Various folk dances will be performed at the Republic Day event including Karnataka Folk dance, Yak dance of Arunachal Pradesh, Karakattam dance of Tamil Nadu, Hojagiri Tripura’s tribal dance and ‘Jago Aiya’ of Punjab.
“Centuries ago, there were no wedding invitations. Jago is a festive dance which would take place the night before a Punjabi wedding…A pot decorated with oil lamps is carried on the head while dancing and singing Jago songs. Relatives of the bride or groom would go around the village and ask people to wake up and join in the festivities”, an official said in a statement.
Lakshadweep will be participating in the Republic day parade after 23 years and it will portray itself as a destination for ‘adventure sport-nature tourism.
