Sidhu meets Rahul Gandhi: Former BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu may join the Congress soon as he met Congress’ vice president Rahul Gandhi in Delhi for a meeting which lasted 45 minutes. Although nothing is cleared yet that when he would announce to join the party, but the meeting happened just before Gandhi met other party leaders to choose candidates for the assembly elections in Punjab, to be held soon.

Sidhu met Gandhi nearly three weeks after his wife joined Congress party. The meeting was also held after the Congress suffered a major setback in Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections. Congress was confident the decision of demonetization would give an advantage, but nothing happened such the congress predicted BJP-Akali Alliance has swept 21 seats out of 26 and Congress left with four.
Talking about Navjot Sidhu, who is negotiating with Both Congress and Aam Aadmi Party and demanding to project him as a chief Ministerial candidate for upcoming election in Punjab. The Congress will have to review his candidacy alongside that of his wife, Navjot Kaur Sidhu, who has already joined the party and she is also sitting representative in the current Punjab assembly.
Captain offered Sidhu to contest election from Amritsar seat
On the other hand, Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh has already made it clear the party will give a ticket to one person of the each family. The party has released its first list of candidates, but her name is not mentioned in it.
Both leaders have recently resigned from the BJP. Navjot Sidhu also resigned from the Rajya Sabha as nominated member.Amarinder Singh said earlier this month after meeting Sidhu that he would agree to join the party and would announce a date soon. Captain offered Amritsar Lok sabha seat to Sidhu which he vacated recently and also represented as a BJP lawmaker for 10 years. He reportedly does not favor the option of fielding Sudhu in the assembly in the assembly elections owing to Sidhu’s Chief ministerial ambitions.
