Winter Session of Parliament surgical strike: The winter session of the Parliament will commence from November 16 and will stretch till December 16 as decided by the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affair (CCPA) in a meeting on Thursday. The Surgical Strike across the Line of Control issue is said to be the thrust focus issue in this session. The surgical strikes were held on sept 28 in retaliation by the Indian army to the Uri attack held on Sept 18 done by Pakistani terrorists.
“The government is very clear that we want to advance the budget session; and for that, the winter session needs to be advanced”, said a senior minister after the meeting on Thursday.

Early session will help in better implementation of GST Bill
However, no official announcement has been made about the dates of the winter session of the parliament.
This time of the winter session is being held earlier than before. It is sought to help in the easy implementation of the central and integrated GST bills being as these bills might be passed in the fourth week of November or early December.
It had also been said earlier that the budget session will be held early next year, which will be on February 2 or even before. Apart from the GST Bill, it is said that fifteen more bills will be passed.
The surgical strikes are undertaken by the Indian Army across the line of control has initiated a debate over its need and whether it was the right thing to do. The opposition has been alleging the Modi govt of inefficient decision-making as they say these strikes will bring uglier repercussions in future from Pakistan’s side.
