Alcatel Idol 4 smartphone has been launched in India and is priced at Rs 16,999. The smartphone is available in Dark Grey, Metal Silver, and Gold colour options and can be availed via Flipkart from 2:00PM today. All-new Alcatel smartphone is bundled with a VR headset and JBL earphones.
The Alcatel Idol 4 was launched at the MWC this year along with the Idol 4S. The Alcatel Idol 4S comes with similar specifications as of the Idol 4S except for a larger 5.5-inch display with higher 2K resolution.
Also, not to forget that BlackBerry’s latest DTEK50 is a rebranded version of the Idol 4 smartphone. The BlackBerry smartphone, which features a slew of BlackBerry’s security features, is available in the market for Rs 22,000 approximately whereas the Idol 4 is going on sale for Rs 5,000 less.
Alcatel Idol 4 specifications
Display: The smartphone comes with a 5.2-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) IPS display with 2D glass on top.
Processor: It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box and is powered Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor with Adreno 405 GPU and 3GB of RAM.
Storage: The smartphone comes with 16GB onboard storage, and supports expandable storage up to 512GB via microSD.
Camera: For photography, the Alcatel Idol 4 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, EIS and dual-LED flash. Up front is an 8-megapixel camera with flash and preloaded beautification mode.
Battery: It is powered by a 2,610mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 support.
Connectivity Features: Connectivity options include 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, USB OTG, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Alcatel Idol 4 looks to be aimed at the multimedia enthusiasts.
Alcatel seems to be aimed at multimedia enthusiasts and that could be the reason that Alcatel Idol 4 comes with a dedicated button on the right side that gives the shortcut to apps like camera, photos and videos among others. The Alcatel Idol 4 comes with dual stereo speakers (2 x 3.6W) powered by ‘Waves’ technology along with Smart PA for amplifying audio.
At this price point that the Alcatel Idol 4 will take on the likes of Lenovo Z2 Plus, Xiaomi Mi Max and Moto G4 Plus, some of the popular under Rs 20,000 smartphones.
