BSP Moves EC against BJP: Bahujan Samajwadi Party BSP has moved to the Election Commission against Sakshi Maharaj and state BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya for violation of model code of conduct. BSP hit back after BJP complained EC against Mayawati that she is seeking votes in the name of caste and religion.

BSP nation general secretary Satish Chandra Misra said in a statement that ‘party treasurer Ambethrajan complained to the Election Commission that BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj used the premises of Balaji Maharaj and Shanidham temple in Meerut for campaigning on January 6 and delivered a speech which amounts to creating a rift in society”.
In the complaint, he mentioned about an interview by the state BJP president Maurya to a newspaper in which he appeals to the backward caste “Yadavs” to vote in the favour of the party which violates a code of conduct.
BSP leader has demanded disqualification of BJP and both the MPs as well debar them from entering the electoral fray for a period of six years, the statement said.
On the other hand, BJP UP executive member Neeraj Shankar Saxena had filed a petition against Mayawati demanding that her party should be debarred from contesting polls and lodging of FIR against her for breaking Supreme Court directives.

A press conference called by Mayawati on December 24 and January 3 where she presented caste-wise details of ticket distribution clearly stating her party has given tickets to how many Muslims, backwards, SCs and other, Saxena had told PTI.Moreover, her partymen are also distributing booklets in all the constituencies “Muslim samaj ka sachcha hitaishi kaun- faisla aap karein”, he had claimed, adding this too was against the SC directives that votes cannot be sought on lines of caste, community or language.
