BJP filed complaint against Rahul Gandhi: After Congress Rahul Gandhi’s Congress Hand symbol remark, BJP is alleging him of hurting the religious sentiments of the public and want the cancellation of Congress as a national party. BJP said that Rahul Gandhi has broken a code of conduct and has wrongly compared the Hand symbol of Congress with the religious figures.
Rahul Gandhi had said in his speech – “I found Congress symbol in Shiv Ji, Guru Nanak, Buddha, Mahavir’s pictures. I asked Karan Singh Ji what does it mean? He said (it means) ‘don’t get afraid.'”

A complaint was filed with the Chief electoral officer of the Uttar Pradesh against Rahul Gandhi ahead of the state elections which will be held in seven phases from Feb 11 onwards.
“Rahul Gandhi, at a convention, named as ‘Jan Vedna Sammelan’ in Delhi on January 11, 2017, made religious comments by co-relating the symbol of Indian National Congress with religious gods such as Shivji, Guru Nanak, Buddha, Mahavir and Islam, violating the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, MCC and the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court”, Bhartiya Janta Party wrote in its complaint.
Senior BJP leader Bhupendra Yadav said in a statement, “It’s a blatant violation of the model code of conduct and strict action should be taken against Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party for trying to influence voters not only in Uttar Pradesh but also in other poll-bound states.”
Countering the attack, the Congress leader PL Punia said that what Rahul Gandhi said just denotes the “emotional bond” and the “high recall value”, and there’s nothing “objectionable” about it.
