Islamic Research Foundation: The Delhi High Court on Thursday has dismissed the plea filed by Zakir Naik-led Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) against an immediate ban and freezing of accounts of the organisation.
MHA has sufficient material for immediate ban, says court
The court has declined the plea saying Home Ministry Affairs (MHA) has sufficient material for the immediate ban.
Earlier in February, court heard the plea by the IRF which challenged the ban by the MHA on the organisation. It had also set up a Judicial Tribunal to look into banning the NGO under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
The centre government had already declared IRF as an unlawful organisation and banned it for five years under the anti-terror laws, and the NIA followed up with raids on its premises in Mumbai on November 19.
Naik provoked innocent Muslim Youth against the nation
As per the Home Ministry, Naik had allegedly provoked innocent Muslim Youth against the nation with many proactive speeches and engaged in terror propaganda.
Naik and his organisation were summoned by the Enforcement Directorate under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
IRF had come under scanner after the terrorist responsible for Dhaka attack in 2016, in an online post had said, that he was inspired by Naik’s speeches.
