On November 11 of each year, people all over India observe National Education Day. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first education minister following independence, was born on this day. From August 15, 1947, to February 2, 1958, Azad was education minister, making numerous significant contributions to the country’s education development.

Contribution of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad:
Maulana Abul Kalam was a great scholar, an Islamic theologian, and an activist for independence. As a senior leader of the Indian National Congress, he was in charge of numerous efforts to win independence from the British. Azad became the nation’s first minister of education on August 15, 1947, the day the country gained its independence. Maulana was the Indian minister of education for more than a decade, bringing significant advancements to the field.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development in India established National Education Day in 2008. The 11th of November was chosen as the day of observation to coincide with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s birthday. In honor of his contribution to the cause of education in India, the nation observed the day. The primary Public Training Day was commended on November 11, 2008, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, and the festivals were introduced by then-President Pratibha Patil.
