After burning effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the prominent faces of the party “BJP” by the students at the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus on Tuesday, the home ministry has asked for a complete report of the incident.
NDTV reported that the ministry has asked the police to submit a detailed report on the effigy-burning by the group of students on Dussehra, which is celebrated with the symbolic burning of the evil King Ravana to show his defeat by Lord Ram. In the other word, it is the victory of good over evil.
The protest was allegedly organized by the members of the Congress student wing NSUI. Protestors allegedly burnt effigies PM Modi also with BJP’s chief Amit Shah, Mahatma Gandhi’s murderer Nathuram Godse, Malegaon blast accused Sadhvi Pragya and Yoga teacher Baba Ramdev at a popular campus hangout known as “Saraswati Dhaba”.
Activists wanted to show dissatisfaction against Government!
The motive of burning effigy was to signify our dissatisfaction with the current BJP Government. The idea is to root out the evil from governance and bring about a system that is pro-student and pro-people,”the Press Trust of India quoted Sunny Dhiman.
It is worth mentioning here that JNU’s Vice Chancellor had already started an investigation into the incident. Although authorities have not answered to questions on the effigy burning or whether the so-called protest was sanctioned.
The second clash at the same place “JNU”
This is the second clash between the central government and students of the prominent university after the big controversial event, to mark the hanging of terrorist Afzal Guru. That time the former student leader Kanhaiya Kumar and few others were incriminated with agitation over the on-campus event in which the anti-national slogans were raised. Last week, the university authorities had ordered another inquiry into a similar effigy burning by some students targeting the Gujarat government and gau-rakshaks.
