Highest grossing Bollywood movies 2016: 2016 has been quite a splendid year for the Indian Film industry. While, the two Khans of the industry, Salman Khan and SRK came with two movies this year, Aamir Khan’s movie Dangal released in December became the show stopper becoming one of the most loved movies of 2016. Salman Khan’s Sultan also fared quite well on the box office collection crossing the 300 crore boundary.
While the other movies have not been able to make it that far still their box office collections have still been commendable.

Salman Khan’s Sultan gave a tough competition to Aamir Khan’s Dangal, however, Dangal emerged as the winner as it crossed the box office collections of Sultan. Dangal became the highest grossing movie of 2016 collecting Rs 373.91 crore at the box office. It has bagged 721.14 crores at the worldwide box office despite the prevailing cash crunch in the economy. The first highest grossing movie of all time is Aamir Khan’s PK collecting Rs 339 crore at the box office while the second highest grosser is Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan bagging Rs 320.34 crore.

Box office collection 300.45 crore
Salman Khan’s Sultan has been topping the list of the highest grossing movies in Bollywood so far. Last year too his movie, Bajrangi Bhaijaan had made it to the 300 crore club at second rank while the first rank was occupied by Aamir Khan’s PK collecting a whopping 331 crore. So once Dangal is released, it can be told whether Salman Khan remains the Sultan or not this year.

The biopic of the Indian cricket star Mahendra Singh Dhoni, MS dhoni also fared quite well in the cinemas as the movie is still in the theatres in the third week of its release and has entered the 200 crore club. The Indian cricket fans widely appreciated the movie.

Yet another hit by Akshay Kumar was able to make it to the 100 crore list. The movie was a crime-thriller and the audience widely appreciated the acting and the plot of the movie.

While the Sajid Nadiawala’s Housefull 3 got poor reviews, the movie still surprisingly managed to cross the 100 crore boundary. The movie, however, turned out to be and an utter disappointment as compared to the prequels.

One of the most hyped movies of 2016, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has managed to bag 90 crores on the domestic box office despite being constantly surrounded by the controversies. The movie has been liked by the audiences, not just in India but also overseas and has done fairly well at the box office.
