A fifty-year-old woman committed suicide on Thursday in Telangana’s Mahabubabad district. The women identified as Vinida who had a large amount of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes stored in her house. After learning that the government has scrapped the high-value notes of Rs 500 and Rs 100 , she hanged herself thinking she would face a huge economic loss.
Suicide of woman is contradictory: Police
According to the police, Vinida had sold 12 acres of her land a few months ago, and decided to keep the money at her home rather than a bank. Although, the amount is unclear but police stated that it was around Rs 50 Lakh.
As per the information, the incident took place at Shanigapuram village. On the other hand, a Police officer investigating the case told TNM that there were contradictory claims. The deceased family told that she committed suicide as she had confused, however, some relatives are stating that she committed suicide because of her family dispute.

They also told that the woman had one son and two daughters, all of whom were married, “Apparently, the children wanted a share of the money and harassed the woman. Police said they are still looking into the matter.
One of the villagers said most land transaction in the rural area happens through cash.” This is marriage season in Telangana and most of the people keep high-denomination money at home. He also said very few in the villagers were aware of what steps needed to be taken to convert their 5200 and1000-rupees notes.
