Ex- serviceman Subedar Ram Kishan Grewal from Haryana has allegedly committed suicide after he was allegedly unable to meet Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar with his complaint over the government’s One Rank One Pension or OROP scheme.
AS per the report of NDTV ministry officials never received any request from the protector to meet Mr. Parrikar. The ex-serviceman, who had raised his voice with his other colleague protestor at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar to demand changes in OROP.
Kishan called his family before committing suicide
NDTV Reported that the Kishan allegedly consumed poison and left behind a suicide note.
On the other hand, Grewal’s son Ram Kishan told to UNI that he called us and said he is committing suicide as the government has failed to fulfill their demands to One Rank One Pension.
Ex-servicemen demand to fulfill their four conditions
Ex-servicemen are demanding that four of their primary conditions have not been met by the government; hence they started their Protest over OROP at Jantar Mantar. Delhi’s designated site for protests, after the government implemented the scheme last year. The demand of One Rank One Pension (OROP) of ex-serviceman is longstanding, grants retired armed forces personnel pension parity with officers and jawans of the same rank who are retiring now.
