Justice Karnan: The Supreme Court on Friday has issued a bailable warrant against Justice CS karnan, a sitting judge of the Calcutta high court, in the contempt case against him.
The aapex court directed West Bengal DGP to personally carry out the warrant against Justice Karnan to ensure his appearance before it on March 31. The order was passed by a seven-judge headed by Chief Justice JS Khehar. It declined to accept hi letter as his reply to the contempt notice.

Besides Chief Justice Khehar, other judges on the bench are justice Dipak Misra, Justice J. Chelameswar, Justices Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Madan B. Lokur, Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose and Justice Kurian Joseph.
The hearing issued by Supreme Court was not obeyed by the controversial judge for his physical presences to prove why suo motu contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him.
He was issued contempt notice by court for writing letters casting aspersions on several judges.
It was for the first time in the history of the SC that it invoked powers to initiate contempt proceedings against a sitting judge of a High Court.
Justice Karnan had written open contemptuous letter against the Madras HC Chief Justice addressed to the CJI, Prime Minister and others were taken into contempt proceeding against him.
Justice Karnan played dalit card for referring the case to Parliament
Meanwhile, Justice Karnan reportedly played the Dalit card asking Supreme Court to refer the matter to Parliament stating that the contempt proceedings were “not sustainable”.
One constitution cannot stand in front of other constitution offices. SC is not a master and HC is not the servant: Justice Karnan said.
