The Chinese telecommunications and networking giant – Huawei is playing its A-game in the mobile phone segment. Recently, they launched the Honor 8 which is getting a lot of praises. It is not yet launched in India but it will be on October 12. Now, they plan on launching a bigger and badder phone, Huawei Mate 9. They intend on targeting the mid-range phones market with the Mate 9 launch; which is currently being ruled by another Chinese smartphone – OnePlus 3.
Everything about the Mate 9 Launch
There is no official word on even its existence, let alone the Mate 9 launch date. However, there have been a few reports lately which contained tiny little bits of information. We have compiled those little bits and have connected the dots for a complete detailed report over here. Take a look at what we found.
Specifications
The phone will flaunt a large 5.9-inches display with a resolution of 1920×1080. The pixel density will be 373ppi and will come along with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for protection purposes. It will be powered by Huawei’s own octa-core Hisilicon Kirin 960 processor clocked at 2.6 GHz. The company has not even announced this processor and could be announced this month. The Mate 9 could be the first phone to feature the processor.
In terms of storage, it will come with 64 GB and 128 GB memory with 4 GB of RAM. A premium variant will also be available with a colossal 6 GB of RAM alongside 256 GB of internal storage. Impressive, isn’t it?
The camera is going to be the USP of Mate 9. The word on the street says that Huawei is again working with the German optics company – Leica, to develop a dual-camera for the Mate 9. Earlier, the P9 saw a similar effort and its result was a good camera which clicked great pictures. Anyways, the Mate 9 will have a dual rear camera with a 20 MP and a 12 MP lens. The front camera will be a decent 8 MP camera.
To help this beast survive the day, it will be backed by a modest 3000 mAh cell.
Features
It will run on Android 7.0 Nougat with Emotion UI. Other features include a fingerprint reader, an iris scanner as well as incredibly fast charging which will give your phone 50% juice in 5 minutes. Other bits and bobs include Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC and a USB Type-C.
Release Date
It is still a mystery. Though Huawei was reportedly sending out invites for an event scheduled for November 9, it now seems like the event has been re-scheduled and will be instead held on November 3. That is when we might witness Mate 9 launch.
Prices
Here are the speculated prices.
4GB + 64 GB = $480 (USD) (Around INR32,000)
4 GB + 128 GB = $580 (USD) (Around INR38,500)
