TIME Person of the Year: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has won the online Reader’s poll for ‘TIME Person of the Year 2016’. He has been voted as the most influential personality of the year, leaving behind in race big names such as – Barack Obama, Julian Assange and Donald Trump.
TIME Person of the Year to be announced on December 7
The editors of the magazine will be deciding on the final name for ‘TIME Person of the Year’. The voting closed on Sunday midnight and till then Narendra Modi had fetched 18% votes from across the world, while Barack Obama, Julian Assange and Donald Trump secured 7% vote followed by Hillary Clinton who got 4% votes, while Mark Zuckerberg got 2% of the votes.
The final name for the person of the year will be announced on December 7 by the magazine editors.
Narendra Modi had won the Reader’s poll for the same title in the year 2014 as well. TIME person of the year is the global personality who has had the most global impact over a span of 12 months.

PM Modi has hogged the limelight worldwide with his recent move against the corruption of demonetising 86% of the circulated currency of high denomination in India and he has proved his dominance yet again; the percent of votes he has secured for the TIME poll is well indicative of this fact.
‘TIME Person of the year’ is the global personality who has had the most global impact over a span of 12 months and the title is one of the most coveted. In 2015, Angela Merkel, a German politician and the Chancellor of Germany, was chosen as the Person of the year.
