17 June 2016: In a fatal incident, an American man kills himself by stabbing on his neck after he was sentenced for the drug possession charges in the courtroom in Taiwan on Thursday, says the court officials.
According to the Taipei Times, an American man was revealed as Tyrel Martin Marhanka (41), was a longtime resident of Taiwan is alleged to have taken a pair of pocket scissor hidden in a magazine in order to bypass courtroom metal detectors.
According to the source, the incident occurred as soon as the judge announced about the sentenced of Tyrel Martin Marhanka to four years of imprisonment in regard to the drug possession charges against the poppy seeds and other narcotics also growing of marijuana. Marhanka stated that it was for his own personal use.
The witnesses said that they heard Tyrel Martin Marhanka screaming which says that “I don’t want to live anymore” before he drew the metals and slashed his neck.
Marhanka is rushed to the hospital after which he was declared dead by the doctors, says the officials.
It is learned that the court in Changhua County of Taichung issued the statement that read, “We deeply regret that Tyrel Martin Marhanka killed himself during the sentencing,” as per the Agence France-Presse reports.
The statement also reads that ”He was cooperative during the investigation and the trial. His attitude was mild and he did not show any signs that he would kill himself.”
Apart from that, the court officials added that for the further security measures, the authorities planned to install well-equipped security measurement and to introduce X-ray machine to scan people before entering the courtroom, as said by the officials.
Mr Tyrel Martin Marhanka is survived by his Taiwanese wife and had two young children in Taiwan living there for several years.
