In a tragic incident, two Kannada actors died by drowning in a 60 ft. plunge while shooting for a movie. The incident happened after they were working on a scene where they had to jump from the helicopter into the Tippagondanahalli reservoir, 35 kilometers from Bangalore. A motorboat was also stationed at the banks so that they can pull the actors out of the waters, but a last minute complication kept the boats ashore resulting in the tragedy.
Lead Actor saved at last minute
Uday and Anil who are the two deceased died after they tried hard to survive in the waters. The film hero Duniya Vijay also jumped into the water but was saved in last minute by the locals who got him in time.
According to eyewitnesses, the actors made a jump from a height of 60 ft. into 40 ft. deep reservoir which was almost 200 feet away from the banks. As per reports, it was a fight scene in the helicopter. The actors made the jump they started swimming towards the banks but started drowning after covering 50 meters.
Local turn into Heroes
One of the locals named Ramagiri, rushed to save the actors as Vijay plunged on to a coral along with Ramagiri, meanwhile when he went back to save the other two Kannada actors only to find them drowned.
Anil and Uday were old friends of Vijay who were part of his other ventures. A fire truck was also stationed as a safety arrangement at the shooting point. Dr. Chandragupta, SP, Ramanagara district said, a case will be filed once the bodies of two Kannada actors will be found.
Violation of Laws
Bangalore water supply and sewage board officials said in a statement that the crew violated all the approvals which were given to them before the shooting. They were even barred to enter the prohibited areas including the water. According to police, the three actors were not even wearing the life jackets when they were shooting for the scene, apart from that the two Kannada actors who died were not good swimmers either.
