OnePlus is a big name. The company came into existence roughly 3 years back and since it has been a roller coaster ride for them. They shook the whole world when they rolled out OnePlus One with the best specifications at that time at almost one-third of what other companies were charging for similar or even inferior specifications. Anyways, that is the past. We are here to talk about the reality of OnePlus 4 specifications. How far-fetched or realistic the rumours surrounding the OnePlus 4 specifications are.
OnePlus 3 came out in June this year. It did come up to the ‘Flagship Killer’ expectations that everyone had from it. A good simple design with all the top notch specifications made sure it could do that.
OnePlus 4 specifications:-
Now, let us talk about OnePlus 4 specifications and see how realistic they actually are. First of all, the latest rumour suggests that OnePlus will reduce the screen size to 5.3-inches and increase the resolution to Quad HD (2K or 2560×1440). Reducing the screen size seems to be pointless however the upgrade to QHD seems to be a pretty reasonable one.
This is due to the fact that the upcoming era is the VR era. Google Daydream is out and these (Daydream and other VR headsets) require higher resolution displays. So the QHD display is possible.
Next is the processor. The rumours claim that the OnePlus 4 will come with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 (or 825, whichever is launched). This is something that OnePlus has already been doing from the very beginning. Same can be said for the GPU.
Many reports are suggesting that one of the biggest highlights of OnePlus 4 specifications will be 8GB RAM. This might sound crazy but this is what OnePlus is known for. OnePLus One offered 3GB of RAM while the other phones were stuck at 2GB. OP3 also offers 6GB of RAM while most other phones max out at 4GB. So, 8GB RAM might sound absurd but it is very much possible. Also, Samsung recently introduced 8GB LPDDR4. That might its way to the OnePlus 4.
Apart from these, 4000mAh battery, wireless charging, dual camera etc are other rumours which definitely are believable. However, there is no official word on this. Not even the name is confirmed as some reports suggest that the name of the phone will be OnePlus 5 as OnePlus is about to launch the OnePlus 3T today.
However, that might not be the case because OnePlus 2 was followed by OnePlus X in the same year. However, the 2016 flagship device still named OnePlus 3. We believe that the launch of OnePlus 3T will not affect the name of the 2017 device and it will still be named OnePlus 4.
Let us talk about the specifications of the OnePlus 3 too now, shall we?
It features a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display with a pixel density of 401ppi. There is a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on top of that to protect it from scratches and minor damage.
It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor clocked up to 2.15GHz. This processor has been paired with Adreno 530 GPU. On the camera front, it comes with 16MP snapper on the rear side as well as a decent 8MP lens on the front.
It comes in only one storage variant that offers 6GB of RAM alongside a healthy 64GB of internal storage. The OP3 runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow which will soon be upgraded to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat.
It has all the connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C support. There are also many other features like Fingerprint Sensor, Fast Charging (Dash Charge) etc. That is it; stay tuned for more updates on the OnePlus 4 specifications.
