One of the accomplice, also booked in the case, has been spared the capital punishment but has been fined 2 lakh Rupees.
Although this incident took place mid-2015, the verdict has just come to light.
These boys were working as plumbers, electricians, masons and carpenters. The families of these youths, all in their 20s, have pleaded their innocence and urged the state and central governments to step in and bring them back to India.
With no ray of hope from the government functionaries, Dubai-based hotelier S P Singh Oberoi, who also heads Sarbat Da Bhala Trust, is pursuing the convict’s case and an appeal has been filed in the high court.
SP Singh Oberoi, over many years has developed a reputation for securing the release of Indian men from jail by paying ‘blood money’ to the families of victims.
He would fight the case till the last and also try to make negotiations for “blood money” to the victim’s family. “As per the law in UAE, ‘blood Money’ is permitted if the family of the deceased agrees,” he said.
Oberoi, till now has secured the lives of 74 people, which includes 50 people hailing from Punjab, India.
