Akshaye Khanna portrays Sunil Dutt: Ranbir Singh is playing the protagonist in the Sanjay Dutt’s Biopic. While news of a tiff between Sanjay Dutt and Ranbir Singh is still around. Initially, Anushka Sharma and Sonam Kapoor were considered for the role, seems like Sonam has got exceptionally lucky.
The full movie cast is not finalised yet, many names have been thrown into combat for the role of Sunil Dutt. But, the 41-year-old actor, Akshaye Khanna, who is in excellent shape is the top contender and will soon be stepping into Sunil Dutt’s shoes.

Earlier this year, Akshaye was seen in Rohit Dhawan’s Dishoom, also featuring Varun Dhawan and John Abraham, after a four-year hiatus. Talking about the role in Dutt’s biopic, the actor told a leading tabloid, “Once I was in front of the camera, I felt like I was able to breathe again, there was a sense of belonging.” He also added, “I wanted to test the waters before taking on bigger roles. I had to earn my stripes again, after being away for four years. I had to start from scratch like any newcomer.”
Director Rajkumar Hirani and team will begin shooting next year, most likely to be in September. Sanjay Dutt and Rajkumar Hirani are close and have worked together before, they have made blockbusters like Munna Bhai M.B.B.S, Lage Raho Munna Bhai. Moreover, Sanjay Dutt played had a special appearance in blockbuster PK.
