It is now almost been two months since Apple Inc has officially launched the iPhone 7 and promised to launch the Earpods really soon. But It only got several delays but the company said on Tuesday that its wireless Apple AirPods headphone are now available through its website. This announcement took two months of time to be made.
On the one side, the Apple users were eagerly waiting for the Airpods’ launch, but the other side, the company kept on delaying their launch for unexplained reasons for several times. But after its announcement to launch the Airpods, Apple also said delivery of AirPods would start next week along with sales at Apple Stores, Apple-authorised resellers and select carriers.
What caused the delay in the Apple Airpods Launch?
Apple was supposed to bring its new AirPods to the market by December, but according to a Wall Street Journal, the delay was due to manufacturing issues. The report pointed out how the AirPods had the Bluetooth connectivity problems as the audio was not syncing with both the earphone pieces.
Apple’s AirPods come with two separate, totally wireless ear pieces and each receives its own Bluetooth signal from the iPhone or iPad or Apple device to which it is connected. The lack of an audio sync means the user would get a distortion when using these wireless headphones.
What WSJ said in its report on the delay in Apple AirPods?
According to the WSJ, Apple was also trying to figure out what happens when someone loses one of their AirPods. Apple’s AirPods are powered by a proprietary chipset called W1 chip which will high-quality sound and great battery life, according to the company. An earlier report in Taiwan-based Economic Daily News said that a supplier expected to begin “shipping AirPods in January 2017.”
Apple unveiled the AirPod priced at $159 at the launch of the iPhone 7 in September. The launch delay was widely seen as a rare marketing slip-up by the company, coming as it did just before the start of the holiday shopping season. Apple had said it needed more time to make the device ready before putting it on the market.
AirPods are priced at Rs 15,400 in India. The India version of the Apple Website also lists a Buy option next to the AirPods, but it is not clear if they have hit the retail stores in India yet.
