The headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea fleet was attacked by a drone early Saturday, Russian officials said, as strikes strikes continued on military targets in the annexed Crimean Peninsula.
Mykhailo Razvozhaev, the Russian governor of occupied Crimea, said that he was at the building in the port city of Sevastapol when “drone flew to the roof.
“Unfortunately, it was not shot down,” he said.
Drone Strikes Headquarters Of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet In Crimea
As per Mykhailo’s post on Telegram, he said the unmanned aerial vehicle was “shot down right above the fleet headquarters. It fell on the roof and caught fire. The defeat failed. Well done boys.”
Additionally, he also posted about it on his official Twitter account.
Photos and video posted online by Ukrainian politicians and media outlets appeared to show the aftermath of the black sea fleet attack, and a large plume of smoke could be seen rising from the fleet’s headquarters.
“The Ukrainian armed forces treated the Russians to a magical evening,” Serhiy Khlan, a member of Kherson’s regional council disbanded by Russian occupation forces, said.
The attack came after a series of blasts hit military depots and airbases in the annexed peninsula over the past week, hinting at a growing ability by Ukraine’s military or its backers to strike deep behind enemy lines.
No Casualties Reported
Russian air defenses had “successfully hit all targets over Crimea,” said the peninsula’s Russian-backed governor, Sergei Aksyonov, adding there were no casualties or damage. The Governor Mikhail also stated that there was no significant damage or victim.
Authorities in Sevastopol reported on Saturday night that the city’s air-defence systems had been called into action again in the evening.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s defence ministry on Saturday said its forces had killed a total of 44,900 Russian personnel – a rise of 200 on the day before.

“It’s very significant, of course. It’s not the only efforts the Ukrainians have been achieving quite well. The result of this has been two-fold — one, the Crimea population has been put under alert and this has created panic in Crimea, with people trying to flee this area, which is no longer considered safe.”
