“I didn’t realise I had gastroenteritis until I sat down in the chair,” Doja Cat explained in a new interview on the birth of her famous appearance.
Doja Cat was feeling green while being transformed into a red cat at Paris Fashion Week.
The “Need To Know” singer, 27, says in a new interview with L’Officeil that her dramatic debut on the opening day of Couture Week, which saw her studded with 30,000 hand-placed Swarovski crystals, was preceded by an extremely unpleasant prep time.
“I didn’t realise I had to get up at four o’clock in the morning,” she said, referring to the time commitment required to complete her look. “So we get there, and I didn’t realise I had gastroenteritis until I sat down in the chair.” So I became quite unwell.”
“I’m sitting there, and I feel the twirling of a knife,” she said. “Everyone on the crew was incredibly nice. The entire glam crew was very understanding, attentive, and nice. It was fantastic and quite professional.”
“I was joking around and making light of the situation, but it only got worse as time went on,” she claimed. “My stomach felt like it had a blade in it and was spinning at 100 miles per hour.” I’d never felt like this – and on one of the most significant days of my life! So there were a lot of emotions and just wild feelings.”
Pat McGrath, a celebrity makeup artist, and her team of professionals brought “Doja’s Inferno” to reality. McGrath posted on Instagram that they spent “4 hours and 58 minutes” hand-placing each gem onto Doja’s skin. The singer and fashion icon’s hair and skin were covered in caps before crystals and gold dust were applied to her body.
