Well Well Well !! There was a lot of the Buzz around the Biopic of one of the much admired and much loved Indian Cricketing Star ‘Mahendra Singh Dhoni’. That was also can be felt in the theatres either, young MS Dhoni fans were seen in large numbers in the theatres.
But most of them came out disappointed when they moved out of the cinema halls, and so did we. “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story” was the title given to the biopic, but there was nothing in the movie that you can say was not known except a couple of moments of Dhoni’s life.
The movie starts with a Young MS Dhoni when he was in school and used to play football and in sudden how his interest gets diverted towards Cricket. Then how hard he works to play for the National team and the hurdles he faced including doing the Job a ticket collector (TC) in Indian Railways and then how he evolve his game and becomes a star of Indian cricket. The story which I guess everyone is aware of, but there are also some events about which most of the people were not aware of. However, the movie is no less than just a fanboy account.
Let’s start with the positives in the movie, the casting of the movie seemed very much perfect. Whether you start with father Paan Singh Dhoni (Anupam Chopra) Jayanti Dhoni (Bhumika Chawla), Sister of MS Dhoni and the best one was the character of young Yuvraj Singh, who looked very much similar to him. The performance of almost entire cast except Disha Patani should be given appreciation. Even Kiara Advani (Sakshi Dhoni) looked really good, the actress has got good acting skills and potential to act in some challenging roles in future.
The screenplay looked good but in between loses the pace which makes many of the viewer’s yawn and yes, the running time of the movie which is more than 3 hours plays a crucial role. The modifications in the matches to replace original MS Dhoni with Sushant Singh Rajput was impressive.
Sushant Singh Rajput looked dedicated for his role and his hard work needs to be applauded. Many other critics also applaud Sushant Singh Rajput’s performance. He looked so much into the role of MS Dhoni that at least you feels he is the real Dhoni. The movie has got emotions, struggle, goose bumping moments like 2007 T20 World Cup Victory, 2011 World Cup Victory. There were some fun moments too.
Now, coming to the cons, Disha Patani(Priyanka) as Dhoni’s first Girlfriend looked good in the movie but failed to impress with her acting skills. Then talking about the direction, yes there were many loopholes in the direction where the movie many times saw skipping away from the plot. As the movie was more about his personal life and batting only but the skills of Wicket Keeper-Batsman were not been given enough screen space except when he was a schoolboy.

Then except some of the moments, the movie looked very much predictable. And there were also some wrong facts been shown in the movie about Dhoni like MS Dhoni was seen playing reverse sweep shots. And Dhoni started hitting from the very first ball is wrong as Dhoni was always known for building an innings with a slow start but ending with the attacking game and Dhoni is also known as the Best Finisher in the world.
However, the movie tried to pick the controversies related to MS’s life whether its the split with the senior players like Gambhir, Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh. But failed to give a justified answer to the audience. Also, the what happened with Disha Patani, I mean Dhoni’s first Girlfriend remained a mystery.
Also, the movie ends with the 2011 Victory which definitely was not expected but yes the movie failed to impress much. However, the movie opened up very well and could make some good BoxOffice Collection.
