Moving further to develop the good relationship between United States (US) and India, President Barack Obama always supported and backed India despite criticism from a group of people in the US. This has been a proof of India’s improving global image and improving the relationship with the USA. Also, the friendship of Indian PM Modi and US President Obama played an important role in it.
US has been supporting India’s NSG (Nuclear Suppliers Grop) from a long time and tried to advance India’s bid in NSG Meetings. But failed due to opposition by China and couple of other countries including Turkey, New Zealand etc.
Now, when India’s NSG Bid is under a scanner, at this time a senior State Department official said that the US President Barack Obama believes that the time has come for the Nuclear Suppliers group(NSG) to take up India’s bid to join the 48-nation group.this while talking to a group of reporters from South Asia ahead of the India visit of Secretary of State John Kerry.
He said this while talking to a group of reporters from South Asia ahead of the India visit of Secretary of State John Kerry. The official further added saying that the US will continue to look for opportunities to advance the case of India. He also said that dialogues are going on in this regard wherever opportunities are available.
He said in his statement saying that, “We certainly continue to work with our Indian colleagues on the way forward and continue to work with other members of the Nuclear Suppliers Group. While I do not have anything to add to that, I think we continue to look for opportunities to advance the case and in those conversations and dialogues are ongoing.”
