Reliance Jio has already stirred things up a lot in the nation since its launch in September. The reason behind this the incredibly low tariff plans that they announced as well as the Jio Welcome Offer. For those of you who are living under a rock and have no clue about the Jio Welcome Offer, it gives you unlimited usage for free of cost. Along with Jio, Reliance Lyf also came into the limelight with their affordable 4G smartphones. Now, a report says that Lyf will launch cheapest 4G VoLTE smartphone in India priced around Rs.1000.
Cheapest 4G VoLTE smartphone in India by Lyf
Economic Times said in a report that Reliance Lyf will launch a new smartphone in early 2017. What makes the upcoming phone special is that it will be cheapest 4G VoLTE smartphone. There is a high probability that the phone will be priced somewhere around the Rs.1000 mark.
The reason behind this is that Reliance wants to penetrate deep into the Tier-III cities. These are the places where the demand for Jio SIM cards as well as VoLTE smartphones has been the highest. Despite all this, there are still people who want a more affordable phone to try out the Jio 4G network.
The report said that the phone will target rural households which will be using data (2G/3G/4G) for the first time. “Jio wants to tap all the segments in the country and sees huge potential in the rural areas, which it now aims to tap with VoLTE feature phones,” the report added.
More about the upcoming cheapest 4G VoLTE smartphone
It also suggests that two phones will be launched. Both of them will be feature phones with 4G compatibility. Though not much is known about the phones, it is being said that they will be powered the Spreadtrum 9820 SoC.
Other possible features include a decent camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. As you can see, they will offer all the goodies that you need in a phone. However, since they will be feature phones, they will be skipping the touch screen.
Currently, the cheapest phone in the nation is Docoss XI which is made by a Jaipur-based company known as Docoss. But it does not support 4G network. The cheapest 4G VoLTE smartphone comes from the house of Reliance Lyf and it is priced at Rs.2,999.
Cheapest 4G VoLTE smartphone to be named Lyf Easy
If the report is to be believed, that is going to change very soon. Some other reports have also surfaced on the internet which claims that the cheapest 4G VoLTE smartphone will be dubbed as Lyf Easy. However, these reports are not very credible and we recommend you to take them with a grain of salt.
The launch of Jio services has been in a way good for telecom companies as well. Since the launch of Jio, seven out of every ten phones sold in the country is a 4G enabled. Furthermore, eight of every ten 4G phones support VoLTE services.
At the same time, Jio is threatening the present telecom leaders in the nation namely – Bharti Airtel, Idea and Vodafone. Recently, Vodafone published its quarterly reports in which they showed huge losses in India. Reason? Very stiff competition in the Indian market.
Reliance currently holds the fifth position in the Indian smartphone market with the market share of 7 percent. That is huge because most of us were not even aware of its existence before the launch of Jio network.
Some reports suggest that Lyf Easy will be launched in January 2017 while others suggest that it will be launched somewhere in Q! of 2017. Anyways, if Lyf comes up with the cheapest 4G VoLTE smartphone, we won’t be surprised to see these numbers grow more. Stay tuned for more updates.
