The Internet has transformed the living and the world in every sense. An interconnected network has made data transfer a simpler job. Technology has made possible many break-through. One such advancement is the Google transpacific cable. Google has funded another line to the present group to improve the connectivity.
This new line connects the US to Japan and it goes online on 30th June this year. Stretching from Oregon to Chiba and Mie the line has been dubbed as ‘Faster’.
The lines connects significant areas of the West Coast, while almost every major city in Japan and further connects to other major hubs in Asia, thus expanding the scope of new possibilities. The project was announced in 2014, aiming to provide cross-continental networking infrastructure.
The project is established in coordination with NEC – Japan, to help in construction and testing of the cable. This new line has been designed to carry 60 terabits of data per second with just 6-fibre pair cable. That’s super fast! A venture of the tech giants like Google and Singtel, this is a giant in data transfer. These networks are crucial for such enterprises which depend on fast and reliable modes and connections.
Google already owns a share in Trans-Atlantic lines. Maybe this is a part of a larger plan; Google plans to expand ownership of the global network infrastructure, both on the international and local scale. Google’s Fiber Division is established to deliver high-speed internet access to major US markets to replace the traditional broadband service providers.
