Himachal Pradesh: In a horrifying bus accident occurred in Mandi district Himachal Pradesh which 25 school children were injured on Friday. The bus was skidded off the road and fell into the 25-meter deep gorge, said police.
The incident occurred near Sundernagar town
The bus was going to school when it skidded off the road in Dehar near Sundernagar town, Deputy Superintendent of police Sanjeev Bhatia told IANS over a phone.
He said two students, who critically injured, have been referred to a government hospital in Mandi town and others with minor injuries hospitalised in a civil hospital in Sundernagar. The students were from Vivekanand Public School at Dehar and they belong to distant villages.
Himachal Pradesh: Bus driver lost his control over the vehicle
According to eye witnesses, the driver had lost his control over the bus while overtaking to another bus. The incident occurred 100km away from the state capital.
The local administration had announced to give exgratia to each of the seriously injured besides promising free-treatment.
The roof of the bus was torn apart in the incident and the children were rescued from the opening, they said.
The district administration has ordered a probe to find out the cause of the accident.
Meanwhile, a driver working for a construction company died when his truck fell into a gorge at Nihari, 70 Km from her on Theog-Hatkoti national highway, police said. Deceased was identified as Karan from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh.
